There are ways to get a fast passport. Using the State
Departments website you can fill out the application and then pay a fee
to expedite your application. If you are busy with other things, you can
hire a company to do it for you.
Forms: All passport applications
require forms. Everyone needs the standard application form but you
might need another one. The State Department will help you navigate the
process and required forms. An Acceptance Facility or Passport Agency
will also assist you in finding the correct forms. It is recommended
that you fill these forms out online then print them. This eliminates
any delays due to illegible handwriting.
Documentation: All
passports require documentation. Photo IDs validate your identity, a
birth certificates proves where you were born and a marriage license
shows that you have legally changed your name. Occasionally immunization
records, travel itineraries, motel reservations or a letter from your
employer will be requested. These show that you have the means to travel
and are healthy enough to travel.
Fees: There are fees for
passport applications. Adults who are applying for a passport for the
first time must pay a $25 execution fee. Adult applications are $95. The
combined total for a child's passport is $95.
Denials: You may be
denied a passport if you have a criminal conviction, are behind in your
child support payments or owe back taxes. In order to check to see if
you qualify for a passport see the State Departments web site or contact
them through the 1-800 number.
Expedited Service: You can get a
fast passport using the State Departments expedited passport service or
by hiring a private agency. The State Department charges $60 plus
application fees and private agency fees start at $100 and goes up from
there. Rush passport agencies base their fees on turnaround time.
Fast passports are easy to obtain they just cost a little more.
