Passport application acceptance
facilities are located throughout the state of New York. The can be
found in many post offices, public libraries and county government
offices. Unless you need your passport in less than two weeks, you must
visit one of these facilities to submit your application for a new
passport using form DS-11.
You will find at least one application
acceptance facility in each of the following counties or boroughs:
Albany, Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung,
Chenango, Clinton, Columbia, Cortland, Delaware, Dutchess, Erie, Essex,
Franklin, Fulton, Genesee, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Kings,
Lewis, Livingston, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, Nassau, New York
(Manhattan), Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orange, Orleans,
Oswego, Otsego, Putnam, Queens, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga,
Schenectady, Schoharie, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, St. Lawrence,
Suffolk, Sullivan, Tioga, Tompkins, Ulster, Warren, Washington, Wayne,
Westchester, Wyoming, Yates.
If there is not an application
facility in your county or borough, look for one in neighboring
counties. Nassau County has the highest number of acceptance facilities
with over fifty. Albany, the state capital, offers the following
locations.

You
can choose between regular and expedited processing when apply for a
new passport. Regular processing of an application takes four to six
weeks. Expedited service takes two to three weeks.
Applicants who
need to get a passport in less than two weeks can make an appointment at
the New York passport agency or authorize a private expediter to submit
the application for them. The address for the regional agency is

The
appointment is made by calling 1-877-487-2778 toll free. Sometimes, it
can take many attempts to get through. Once the appointment is
scheduled, you should arrive at the regional agency a few minutes early.
Take the completed but unsigned application Form DS-11 and all the
required documents, photos and payment with you. If everything is in
order, you should walk out with your new passport in hand.
In
emergency situations when you need to obtain your passport fast but are
unable to set up an appointment and travel to the regional agency, a
private expediter is your best option. There are several in New York.
