Regardless of whether you've happened upon an unexpected holiday,
or a personal emergency or business trip has come up, there are often
times in our lives when we need to travel out of the country on short
notice. When this happens our only hope is to find someplace where we
can get quick passports to help smooth the way. In this article you're
going to learn just a few of the ways that you can get passports when
you need to travel at a moment's notice.
Acceptance Offices
Passport
acceptance offices are one of the easiest ways to get quick passports.
As a general rule you will receive your passport in roughly two weeks;
though many offices are actually able to get your passports for you in
as little as 24 hours, if not the same day! It is important to know that
when the time comes for your appointment you will need to have all of
your paperwork, as well as the necessary fees, available. You need to
have proof of your citizenship (usually your birth certificate or
naturalisation card), a photo identification card (driver's license or
state identification card), as well as information about when and where
you will be traveling.
Online Expediting Services
Another
way you can get quick passports is to go through an online expediting
service. These services allow you to complete the entire process of
applying for your passport online, including expediting your passport;
and can often have your passports to you in just a single day. These
online passport expediting services do however charge quite a bit more
than their offline counterparts. This is typically due to the fact that
most are able to promise your passport in so short a time. Be sure you
have your credit card handy when ordering your quick passports from an
online service, and be certain that they offer a secure server for your
ordering.
Do-It-Yourself Passport Expediting
Another
way to get quick passports is to apply for them yourself. Unfortunately,
getting your own passports is the slowest way to go about it; but as
long as your trip is two weeks or more away, you should be able to get
yours in time. In order to apply for your own quick passports, you will
need to find the address for your local passport office. Once you have
that address, send your paperwork and fees overnight to them, and be
sure to pay for two-way overnight service. Although you may luck out and
get your passports back sooner, you should plan on at least two weeks,
and as many as four, to get your passports back. As slow as this may
seem, it is still much quicker than applying through the normal means.
As
you can see, getting quick passports when you need to travel isn't as
difficult as you may think. As long as you have all of your paperwork in
order and the additional fees required, you should have no troubles
getting your quick passports.
