If you're traveling in a hurry and need to get fast passports for
you and your family, it can often be quite frustrating to learn that
the average processing time for a passport is up to eight weeks.
However, most people don't realize that it is very possible to get fast
passports - often in as little as 24 hours; which is why we want to show
you how you too can get fast passports when you need to travel outside
of the country on short notice.
Getting Them On Your Own
Getting
fast passports on your own is by far the slowest of the two methods;
but it is by far the simplest and cheapest way to expedite a passport.
Since many people are unable to find a passport expediting service close
to them, we wanted to make certain we covered it in this article. The
first thing you need to understand about trying to get fast passports on
your own is that if you need to leave within the next couple of weeks,
you won't have time. Getting your own passports expedited generally
takes at least two weeks, and often times as many as four.
In
order to get fast passports on your own, you will need passport
applications filled out for every member of your family who is applying;
proper identification, including certified copies of birth certificates
and photocopies of your photo identification cards; as well as doctor's
statements for infants without photo ids. You will need to find the
application address that you will need to send your materials to, as
well as what the current fee for a passport is. This information can be
found online.
Once you've got all of your papers together for your
fast passports, you'll need to send them into the passport application
office you found the address for earlier. There are three important
steps you need to take when you do this if you want to have your
passports expedited. The first is to add a $60 expedition fee for each
passport you are applying for, the second is to mark your envelope with
the word "Expedited", and the third is to pay for two-way overnight
service. Purchasing the additional overnight service will help to ensure
that you receive your fast passports as quickly as possible.
At An Expedition Office
If
you need your fast passports sooner than two weeks from now, then you
will need to take your application materials and fees to a local
passport expedition office. These offices can often have your passport
to you in 24 hours; but the average wait time is two weeks or less. If
you must have your passports in 24 hours, you will likely incur
additional fees over and above the actual passport and expediting fee.
Regardless
of whether you choose to order your fast passports yourself, or choose
to hire a service to get them for you, the fact remains that you no
longer need wait long weeks to get your traveling papers in hand, Fast
passports are easier than ever to get, and will allow you to enjoy your
holiday sooner than you ever thought possible!
